Hi, I’m Melissa—the founder of Raised Right Garden Co.
Gardening has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My love for growing things started when I was just 3 years old, and that passion has stayed with me ever since.
Over the years, gardening became so much more than a hobby. It became a source of peace, purpose, creativity, and joy. There is something incredibly rewarding about planting a tiny seed, nurturing it through every stage, and watching it grow into something that can nourish your family.
I especially fell in love with raised bed gardening because of the structure, efficiency, and beauty it brings to growing food at home. Raised beds transformed the way I gardened, making it easier to grow healthy, productive gardens while creating a space that felt both functional and inspiring.
As a retired teacher, education has always been at the core of who I am. I love learning, and I love teaching others what I’ve learned. The truth is, I don’t know everything about gardening—and I never will. Gardening is one of those lifelong journeys where there is always something new to discover. That’s part of what makes it so rewarding.
Raised Right Garden Co. began as a simple idea: create apparel for people who love gardening as much as I do.
What started as a small side business centered around gardening shirts quickly became something much deeper.
As RRGC began to grow, I realized this brand wasn’t just about apparel.
It was about community.
It was about education.
It was about helping people reconnect with the skills and knowledge that allow us to grow food for ourselves and our families.
It was about something I have believed for a long time: growing food matters.
That belief led me back to one of the ideas that inspired me years ago—the legacy of Victory Gardens.
During some of the most difficult times in history, ordinary people stepped up and grew food in backyards, schoolyards, and small garden plots to help support their families and communities. Victory Gardens represented resilience, self-reliance, and hope.
Today, we face different challenges—rising food costs, supply chain disruptions, climate uncertainty, declining soil health, and increasing disconnection from where our food comes from.
The need for food resilience hasn’t disappeared.
If anything, it has become even more important.
That’s why RRGC has grown into more than a brand.
It has become a mission.
A Modern Victory Garden doesn’t require acres of land or a perfect homestead. It can begin with a raised bed, a container, a patio garden, or even a single tomato plant.
You don’t need to grow everything.
You just need to start.
Every seed planted matters.
Every harvest matters.
Every skill you learn builds resilience.
